Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is commonly viewed as one of the most complex but well-loved poker games. It’s a variation that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites action from all levels of players. This is the chief reason why a once invisible game, has grown in acceptance so amazingly.

Omaha/8 begins exactly like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are dealt to each player. A sequence of betting ensues in which players can bet, check, or fold. Three cards are dealt out, this is referred to as the flop. A further round of betting ensues. After all the gamblers have in turn called or dropped out, a further card is flipped on the turn. an additional sequence of wagering happens at which point the river card is flipped. The players will have to make the best high and low 5 card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is the point where many players can get confused. Contrasted to Hold’em, where the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha hi lo the player must utilize exactly three cards from the board, and exactly 2 cards from their hand. Not a single card more, not a single card less. Unlike normal Omaha, there are two ways a pot could be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."

A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It’s the best possible hand out of every player’s, it doesn’t matter if it is a straight, flush, full house, etc. It is the identical approach in almost every poker game.

The lower hand is more difficult, but really free’s up the play. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the worst hand that could be put together, with the lowest being A-2-3-4-5. Seeing as straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an eight and lower. The low hand wins half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there’s no low hand available, the high hand wins the complete pot.

It may seem complex at first, after a couple of rounds you will be able to get the base subtleties of the game with ease. Seeing as you have people betting for the low and wagering for the high, and since so many cards are being used at the same time, Omaha Hi-Lo provides an amazing array of betting choices and because you have many players battling for the high hand, as well as several trying for the low. If you enjoy a game with a considerable amount of outs and actions, it is not a waste of your time to participate in Omaha hi lo.
