Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is frequently viewed as one of the most difficult but favored poker games. It’s a variation that, even more than regular Omaha poker, invites action from all levels of players. This is the chief reason why a once invisible variation, has expanded in popularity so amazingly.

Omaha 8 or better starts just like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are given out to every player. A sequence of betting follows in which gamblers can bet, check, or fold. 3 cards are handed out, this is referred to as the flop. A further sequence of betting happens. Once all the players have in turn called or dropped out, an additional card is flipped on the turn. a further round of wagering happens and then the river card is flipped. The gamblers will have to make the best high and low 5 card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is the point where a few players can get flustered. Unlike Texas Holdem, where the board can make up every player’s hand, in Omaha hi low the player must use exactly three cards from the board, and precisely two hole cards. No more, no less. Contrary to normal Omaha, there are two ways a pot could be won: the "higher hand" or the "lower hand."

A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It’s the best hand out of every player’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house. It is the very same notion in just about every poker game.

A lower hand is more complex, but really opens up the play. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. A low hand is the weakest hand that might be made, with the worst being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Since straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest value hand possible. The lower hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and below. The low hand wins half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there’s no low hand presented, the higher hand wins the entire pot.

Although it seems complicated at the start, after a few rounds you will be able to get the base subtleties of play simply enough. Since you have people betting for the low and betting for the high, and seeing as so many cards are in play, Omaha High-Low provides an exciting assortment of betting choices and seeing that you have several individuals shooting for the high, and several battling for the low hand. If you like a game with all kinds of outs and actions, it is not a waste of your time to play Omaha 8 or better.
