Gamblers who enjoy the game of Omaha often find they are drawn to the hugely well-known game of Omaha hi low. For players who are familiar with hi/low poker variations, Omaha hi/lo will prove to be a breeze to understand. The fundamental rules of the variety follow the game of Omaha and if you’re comfortable with five Card Stud hi/lo, the hi lo variety of Omaha is close to the Stud game style.

Just like Omaha and hold’em, Omaha hi/low is a community card game which indicates that there are 5 community cards used to help all players make the greatest possible poker hand. The game starts with the laying of both the large and small blinds. The dealer then deals every player 4 "hole" cards with the faces hidden. Wagering round number 1 starts clockwise from the big blind. Following the first round of wagering takes place, the dealer deals out three cards on the flop to the community. These cards are distributed face up in the middle of the poker table.

Following the flop, an additional round of wagering takes place and the turn card is then dealt to the community (face up) followed by a further round of betting, raising, calling, checking and dropping out. The last card dealt to the community is referred to as the river card (dealt face up too) and a last round of betting follows with a showdown taking place to figure out who the winner(s) of the pot.

Deciding a winner in any hi/lo game is somewhat distinctive than in most poker games. Each pot has 2 winners. half of the pot will go to the gambler with the highest low hand and fiftypercent of the money will be cut to the gambler with the best high hand. If the pot doesn’t have a winning low hand because of qualification, then the high hand wins the entire pot.

In Omaha hi low, the low hand must qualify for a low hand with an eight or less. If hands don’t qualify, then the high hand wins the pot and if there is a tie, the money is then divide based on the high hand win.

Omaha hi lo has many styles such as limit and no limit variations. In the set limit games of Omaha, the most apparent rule is the cap on the amount of raises permitted in the hand ranging from 3 to five raises based on the number of individuals remaining in the game. 1 noticeable difference in the style is the fact there are regularly 2 successful players. Individuals accustomed to the hi lo games discover Omaha hi/lo quite easy to play and players are conscious of the rules immediately once the initial round is played.
